Date: 02/11/21

Dr. Mark Maddox will help lead the COVID-19 vaccination task force efforts to get more Oregonians vaccinated.

SALEM, Ore., (Feburary 11) - Coordinated Care's Chief Medical Officer, and Oregon Army National Guard Colonel, Dr. Mark Maddox, has been assigned as the Commander of Joint Task Force Guardian, the Oregon National Guard's COVID-19 vaccination support effort. Combining his medical expertise and experience as a military leader, Dr. Maddox continues to guide the task force in administering the COVID-19 vaccine to Oregonians statewide supporting community healthcare organizations, and began serving in this capacity on January 13.

“It's an honor to have been selected for the assignment to lead this joint task force, which is filled with incredible Guardsmen dedicated to ending the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Dr. Maddox. “The number of people being vaccinated is rising, and it is our duty to ensure that more vaccines are steadily being administered as weeks go on.”

The Oregon National Guard has been providing assistance to Oregonians since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, and with the COVID-19 vaccine now available, they're working alongside state partners to help ensure a rapid increase in the number of vaccinations to eligible Oregonians. Dr. Maddox leads the National Guard's vaccination task force as it administers the vaccine to high-risk populations and essential workers, organizes traffic and crowds at the clinics, and assists with the data entry and medical records that are necessary to ensure this large-scale medical operation is operating efficiently.

In addition to serving as Chief Medical Officer for Coordinated Care, Dr. Maddox has served 14 years in the Oregon Army National Guard and has been the State Surgeon for the Oregon Army National Guard since 2018.
