Coordinated Care Awarded 2024 Corporate Partner of the Year by Treehouse
Date: 05/15/24
On April 26, 2024, Coordinated Care was honored alongside three other awardees at the Treehouse Champions event, with the Corporate Partner of the Year award. This award is bestowed on partners who commit to support foster youth in care as they grow and thrive.
As is the only insurance plan covering 21,000+ children and youth impacted by foster care in Washington, Coordinated Care designed their Apple Health Core Connections program to meet the specific healthcare needs of children, youth and families. The health plan develops whole-person, culturally-responsive, and healing-center programs to support children and youth, caregivers, and families in the child welfare system.
As part of that holistic approach, Coordinated Care has also invested in partnerships that impact wellbeing outside of a visit to a provider with partners such as Treehouse--an organization working directly with youth and advocating for system change to allow young people in foster care to thrive.
"After many years of working with partners, caregivers, medical experts and youth themselves to create care to meet the complex healthcare needs of children, youth and young adults, we are proud of our Apple Health Core Connections program and the services we provide," said Coordinated Care President and CEO, Beth Johnson. "To receive this award from Treehouse, who is a statewide leader in foster care advocacy and programs, is truly an honor."
"Treehouse is thrilled to award Coordinated Care as our 2024 Corporate Partner of the Year award in recognition of their long-standing support of children and youth in foster care and their partnership with Treehouse," said Treehouse's CEO, Dawn Rains. "Coordinated Care has provided free trainings for our staff, leaned in to help address systemic changes through public policy advocacy, and provided financial support to expand Treehouse direct service programs statewide. We cannot do this work alone and we need more partners like Coordinated Care."
State Representative Tana Senn was also recognized by Treehouse as their 2024 Legislator of the Year. Rep. Senn has served in the Washington Legislature since 2013 and is widely recognized as the leading voice on child welfare in Olympia. At the Treehouse Champions lunch, Governor Jay Inslee said "Rep. Senn is the go-to person in the Washington Legislature for all things youth-related... She was successful in passing House Bill 1188, which ensures children with developmental disabilities get the full spectrum of services." Sparked by the experience of Coordinated Care members who were unable to access developmental disability services, Coordinated Care was instrumental in passage of House Bill 1188 during the 2023 Washington State Legislative Session.
"I am so thankful to have Coordinated Care as an advocacy partner, looking for ways to improve health care delivery for foster youth, including through law changes," said State Rep. Tana Senn. "It seems fitting that I was named by Treehouse as the Legislator of the Year, right alongside Coordinated Care's deserved recognition, as well."
