Governor Appoints Coordinated Care CEO Beth Johnson to the Washington State Opportunity Scholarship Board

Date: 03/25/24

Coordinated Care is pleased to announce the appointment of our President and CEO, Beth Johnson to the Washington State Opportunity Scholarship (WSOS) board, effective March 25, 2024.

WSOS is the first public-private scholarship program delivering financial assistance, mentorship and career training for Washington students pursuing education and high-demand STEM, healthcare, and trade careers.

The Board of Directors consists of 11 members, six of whom are governor appointed, committed to providing additional guidance for the staff and programming created to remove systemic barriers to education and career paths in Washington.

WSOS's goal to accelerate equitable change for historically excluded students and increase the local talent pool for Washington businesses, aligns with Coordinated Care’s Community Scholarship initiative, launched in 2021. Designed with an equity lens, these funds are intended to support first-generation graduates, BIPOC and underrepresented students seeking healthcare professions and create an upstream solution to healthcare workforce shortages.

"Coordinated Care is committed to investing in upstream solutions and partnering with organizations like the Washington State Opportunity Scholarship program to help grow our healthcare workforce to better meet the needs of our communities," said Coordinated Care President and CEO, Beth Johnson. "I am humbled and honored by this appointment and look forward to the opportunity to serve in this capacity."
